Weiyi Chen (B. 1997, Chongqing, China) is a London-based textile artist. She graduated from Chelsea College of Arts with a Master’s degree in Textile Design in 2023. Centered on natural dye and machine knitting, she integrates diverse textile techniques—including Chinese intangible cultural heritage methods—with personal narratives to examine
intergenerational trauma, feminine subjectivity, and social issues through intuitive and repetitive making.

Her recent practice expands toward ecological thinking and post-anthropocentric perspectives, reflecting a deep concern for the entangled relationship between humans and the natural world.

In addition to her individual practice, Chen is also the co-founder of “TearSlaly”, an interdisciplinary art collective established in 2024. That merges photography and textiles as core mediums for contemporary artistic exploration and collaborative creation. Through traditional photography, textile arts, and natural dyeing techniques, the collective
seeks to foster meaningful connections between creators and participants across different disciplines, using nature as a medium to cultivate authentic interactions.
